Albuquerque North Valley mosque project advances after appeal denied
Bernalillo County commissioners voted 4-1 on Tuesday to deny an appeal against a new mosque in Albuquerque's North Valley, New Mexico, clearing the way for the Albuquerque Islamic Center to relocate to a site near Second Street and Alameda, according to KOB 4.
A traffic study must be completed before construction begins, and any mitigation the study requires must be added to the building plans before the project can proceed. Neighborhood associations had opposed the project over traffic and noise, and meetings about it drew anti-Islamic rhetoric, the station reported.
