CAIR survey finds Gaza, economy and Iran war weighed on Muslim respondents' votes

CAIR and CAIR Action released a preliminary survey Nov. 4 in which 80% of Muslim respondents who voted said they primarily supported Democrats. Community Pulse, operated by Molitico, surveyed 522 registered voters who identified as Muslim from Nov. 2 to 4, including early voters and partial responses.

Among respondents who had voted or still planned to vote, 80% said the economy was a major influence on their vote, 80% said the same about the genocide in Gaza, and 76% about the U.S.-Israel war on Iran. The number answering each question varied. Separately, the organizations reported that 70% said rising Islamophobia motivated them to vote.

The survey recruited respondents through text messages, combining a stratified random sample with participants in earlier CAIR surveys and the Community Pulse panel. Muslim respondents were weighted using ISPU's 2025 race and ethnicity estimates and voter-file characteristics. The pollster reported a margin of error of ±6.6 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, accounting for weighting.

The findings were preliminary as of 9:42 a.m. on Nov. 4, New York time. The release said 93% of respondents reported voting and another 3% still planned to vote when they responded; those figures describe survey participants, not turnout among all registered Muslim voters. Percentages were rounded, and some questions allowed multiple answers.
