CAIR announces final advertising and text outreach push before November 3 election

The Council on American-Islamic Relations announced its final nonpartisan get-out-the-vote push on October 29, combining streaming television and digital advertising, text messages and election resources ahead of the November 3 midterms.

CAIR said its streaming-TV advertising is projected to reach about 311,000 households, while digital advertising is projected to reach about 550,000 voters. Three text-message rounds target approximately 250,000 voters across ten states, allowing up to 750,000 messages. The organization said these are planning estimates, audiences may overlap and actual delivery will be reported after the election.

The text outreach covers California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia. CAIR said the first round went out October 24, a second was scheduled for October 28 and the final pre-election round for November 2.

The campaign directs voters to Muslims.Vote for registration checks, tools subject to state deadlines, polling-place information and voting-rights resources. Its 30-second commercial was jointly produced with CAIR Action, a separate advocacy organization that also provides voter data for the program.

CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said the effort aims to help Muslim voters check their registration and make voting plans. CAIR plans a post-election exit poll of respondents’ reported participation and preferences, and a separate study of the effect of its text outreach on turnout.
