CAIR calls for rejection of religious attacks on candidates
The Council on American-Islamic Relations called on candidates, elected officials and political parties across the United States to reject attacks based on religion, ethnicity or national origin. In an October 13 statement, the Muslim civil-rights organization said political debate should focus on qualifications, records and policies. CAIR also urged protection of religious liberty and equal civic participation regardless of party affiliation. The statement did not name a particular candidate as its subject.
