Report examines dispute over EPIC case

A new Texas Monthly investigation reports that former Texas securities commissioner Travis Iles disputed the basis for a securities-fraud case against the developer of EPIC City, a mosque-linked housing project near Dallas, Texas. Iles told the magazine his team did not consider the transactions securities and described pressure from Governor Greg Abbott's advisers. Abbott's office described its involvement as routine executive oversight and said entities must comply with state law regardless of faith.
