Mamdani says election results show voters want change they can feel in their wallets

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Wednesday that the election was a referendum on politics across the country, arguing that working people want changes they can feel in their wallets, ABC7 New York reported November 4.

Mamdani said too many politicians dismiss the needs of working people as unrealistic while accommodating the wealthiest. He said working people should be at the center of the country's politics rather than being asked to accept decline.

The mayor also welcomed Abdul El-Sayed's victory in Michigan, saying he was excited by the result after the money spent opposing El-Sayed and the racism and slander he faced during the campaign.

Despite his policy differences with President Donald Trump, Mamdani said the welfare of New York City remained one of their very limited areas of agreement.
