Michigan early in-person voting begins Oct. 24, with Dearborn and Dearborn Heights sites open through Nov. 1
Early in-person voting begins statewide in Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 24, and early voting sites will be open at least eight hours every day through Sunday, Nov. 1, the Michigan Department of State said on Oct. 20. Election Day is Nov. 3.
Michigan voters approved a constitutional amendment in 2022 that gives voters the right to vote early and in person before statewide and federal elections. For those elections, the mandatory early voting period lasts at least nine consecutive days, begins the second Saturday before Election Day and ends the Sunday before the election, according to the department. Communities may offer additional days.
In Dearborn, the early voting location for all residents is the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue, from Saturday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the City of Dearborn.
In Dearborn Heights, early voting is held at the Canfield Community Center, 1801 N. Beech Daly, from Saturday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 1, daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to the city.
Voters can look up early voting sites and times at mi.gov/earlyvoting, the Department of State said.
Under Michigan law, online and mail registration are not permitted within 14 days of an election, the department said. Eligible residents who still need to register for the Nov. 3 general election must now do so in person at their local clerk's office with proof of residency.
The department reported that as of 7 a.m. on Oct. 20, 789,476 voters had returned completed absentee ballots by mail, drop box or to their clerk's office. A total of 789,572 voters had cast ballots, including 96 at early voting sites, or 10.7% of Michigan's active registered voters.
