Muslim inmate in Michigan sues over confiscated Ramadan items

A Muslim woman held at Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility filed a federal suit on Sept. 28 against the state corrections director, the warden and five officers. She alleges her Qur'an, prayer rug and head covering were taken for 38 days in fall 2023 and that she was offered a Bible. The department had not responded to a request for comment when the report ran.
