Mo Amer headlines sold-out Radio City Music Hall show

Houston-raised comedian Mo Amer headlined Radio City Music Hall in New York on October 2 and sold out the roughly 6,000-seat venue, the Houston Chronicle reported on October 14. Amer said his team had informed him that the show made him the first Arab stand-up comedian to headline the venue. The show featured surprise appearances by Jon Stewart, Ramy Youssef, Shane Gillis and Dave Chappelle, who introduced him.

Amer was born in Kuwait and moved to Alief, in the Houston area, with his family at age nine after they fled the Gulf War. He co-created and starred in Netflix's semi-autobiographical series “Mo,” about a Palestinian refugee navigating life in Houston, which has won a Peabody Award since its 2022 debut.

Other Arab American performers have appeared at Radio City Music Hall, including Lebanese American musician George Marge Jr., who played solo flute in its 2004 Christmas Spectacular. Amer said he was the first Arab American comedian to headline the hall, and the Chronicle reported that Stewart praised the milestone.
