Fox News: Omar's sister voluntarily spoke with federal investigators in immigration probe
Sahra Noor, the older sister of U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar, voluntarily spoke with federal investigators last week in connection with an immigration-fraud investigation involving the congresswoman, Fox News Digital reported on October 20, citing three sources familiar with the investigation. The report said the scope of Noor's conversation with investigators was unclear.
According to Fox News, the interview followed the October 12 search by Homeland Security Investigations agents of the Washington home Omar shares with her husband. The outlet said investigators were examining whether Omar or her father falsified information in her citizenship paperwork.
Noor had been in the United States promoting her book, Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story. A book event scheduled for October 15 at the University of Minnesota Rochester was canceled. Garden Party Books, a local bookstore supporting the event, told Fox News that Noor had a family emergency.
The report also cited The New York Times as saying that about a dozen people, including relatives of Omar, had been subpoenaed. It said Omar's lawyers had asked the Justice Department to return some property seized during the search.
Omar condemned the raid in a statement posted to X, describing it as an abuse of power and political targeting. The statement said the congresswoman had done nothing wrong. Fox News said Noor had not responded before publication and that Omar's attorneys had not immediately returned a request for comment.
