Tlaib urges U.S. to arrest Israeli commander over Hind Rajab killing

U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib called on her government to arrest and investigate Israeli commander Sean Glass over his alleged involvement in the killing of Palestinian child Hind Rajab in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported. In a social media post Monday, Tlaib cited reports that Glass was in the United States.

Tlaib said the United States, as a party to the Genocide Convention and Geneva Conventions, was obligated to arrest and investigate him for what she described as war crimes and acts of genocide. That is Tlaib’s stated legal position.

Her post shared a report from the Hind Rajab Foundation, which tracks Israeli soldiers suspected of war crimes. The foundation said it had filed an emergency request with the U.S. Department of Justice seeking Glass’s arrest. It alleged that he commanded the Vampire Empire Company implicated in the killing of Rajab, members of her family and the medics sent to rescue them.

The foundation said its investigation placed Glass and his troops near Rajab’s vehicle during the January 29, 2024 killing. Al Jazeera reported that Israel had opened a probe into the killings.
