CAIR-Florida calls for Duval school board member to resign over reported anti-Muslim post
A CAIR-Florida official called for Tony Ricardo, a Duval County School Board member in Jacksonville, Florida, to resign and apologize over a Facebook post Action News Jax described as anti-Muslim and said appeared to have been shared by him, the station reported on November 2.
The station said it had not independently verified that Ricardo shared the post. It found an account with a matching profile picture, but the account appeared private. Ricardo had not responded to its email or telephone inquiries.
CAIR-Florida's Wilfredo Ruiz urged Ricardo to step down. Board member Melody Bolduc rejected the post's message, said Muslim students, employees and families deserve dignity and respect, and said an apology was appropriate. Board member Reginald Blount said he would not speak for Ricardo and called for respect for all faiths.
